Live - Camino Francés Triacastela to Mercadoiro

Camino(s) past & future
2017 2018
Today I did about a 35 k walk in beautiful Galicia. After a cafe con lacha at a bar I was on the way at about 7.45. It was raining steadily for about 8 km and when it stopped a wonderful organic ,bar for want of a better word appeared it was wonderful and a donation breakfast was laid out which had a varied selection. I include pics of it .met some fellow travelers there but not a lot, mostly from europe. Thwn it was onto Sarria,by the way I took the shorter route. I didnt like Sarria and anyway I had intended to press on for another 17 km to this wonderful alburgue Mercadoiro, about 5 km before Portomarín. It has its own bar that does a great meal. The couple that own it are very helpful.

You must have taken the rain with you - it's been glorious sunshine here in Ireland! I was out on the Cavan Way today making another leg of my camino route to reach Dublin...but your photos are making me look forward to reaching more "established" camino routes - Buen camino!

Stopped at the same place in 2018. It dos not appear to have changed much. We were happy to pat the cats, and spouse ate a boiled egg, but I took only a banana for my "donation" as I was uncertain about their ability to wash anything. The people were certainly kind enough, and the "aseos" were an adventure. I might have had a coffee from a thermos??
Thanks for the photos... I remember the place very well but had not been able to remember on what day we stopped there. Now I recall the day that much more clearly as a result of your post.

Totally agree. Mercadoiro is a gem.
I participated in a wonderful six-language alfresco dinner there, and the sleeping space was nice. Good preparation for the trek through Portomarin and on to Palas de Rei.

The distance market looks remarkably clean and free of graffiti! Much better than I remember from 2018.
