Trip to Muxia

I will be in Santiago on June 9 and want to do a 1 day trip by bus to Muxia. Will the bus schedule allow me to go and return plus see Muxia in one day.

Doesn't look like it would leave you with much time. As far as I know this http://www.grupoferrin.com/gestion/descargas/docs/Santiago - Bertamirans - Negreira - Muxia.pdf is the only bus service and on a week day you'd get maybe 4 hours in Muxia.

Just the other day I saw an ad for a daytrip to Muxia. It may have even been displayed on this site before I logged in. At any rate maybe the tourist office in Santiago will know something about it. http://www.santiagoturismo.com/ There is a flag button for English at the top but it may be obscured until you accept cookies.

Yes there is in fact an ad on this site for a day trip to Finisterre-Muxia. It costs 39 Euro and gives a departure time of 9 am with a return at 5 pm. They also offer a 10% discount if you use the promo code "casa Ivar" . Apparently you can also book in advance and they allow you to change the dates or cancel.

Believe me four hours in Muxia is about 3 hours too long! You'll get there too early for lunch and that church that figured in the Sheen film has been overly scrubbed clean during the rebuilding. It was also locked up tight.
There's not much open during the middle of the day but the trip back was interesting - two seats back from us an Australian pilgrim insisted on showing an American lady all of his photos across the CF even though she had walked the whole way herself . . . "Here's us going into the restaurant. Here's us coming out of the restaurant" the rest of the passengers were in hysterics.
Glad I went there though

It's not a difficult drive (not even on the wrong side for you!), and car rental for a day is about the same as a tour.

I did it 3 weeks ago. Picked up the car in town (10am), drove to Muxia, had coffee in town, walked around a bit, drove up to the lighthouse and church (wonderful) then on to Fisterra via the waterfall. Lunch in Fisterra and a drive up to the lighthouse there. And back to Santiago for 6pm.

www.economycarrentals.com are brokers and have good prices. Otherwise ask at your hotel or albergue if they can advise about local car rental.

I did go on daytrip tour with a minibuss taking us to Finnester and Muxia and other places of interrest.
We had lunch included for 50 euro.
That was a very nice trip.

I suppose it depends how long you want in Muxia. I found it was plenty of time to walk down to the rocks, sit awhile, have lunch....

Granted, not much to "see" in Muxia, but a great place to "experience". time spent watching the sun set while sitting on the magical rocks is a wonderful way to finish a Camino. And tasty percebes to devour!

They can sense we're Americans and gave me a 3 day price of of over $550.00 USD ....lol
