Try to skip Frómista.

I got to Frómista yesterday at 12:20, tried one Albergue, full. The next one I went to didn't open for an hour, but had 20 or so rucksacks lined up outside. So I called the Albergue/Hotel in Población de Campos. (An easy 3.5km away) Got a bed no problem. Albergue €5 was told by some pilgrims it was great. I went for the private room with double bed €30. Fantastic choice. Very friendly owner. Food was great. Nice garden. Spotlessly clean. Really peaceful. My favourite stop in 2 1/2 weeks. Didn't want to leave this morning.

I am sorry to hear about this, but it appears to be a more general issue than just this one town. There are at least two other threads discussing the problems people are facing getting accommodation in the early stages of the CF.

Walking on has always been a solution in the face of places being completely full, but future walkers missing a town based on a problem you faced there in the past and which might no longer exist doesn't appeal to me as a successful strategy to deal with the issue.

kayagee66, I couldn't agree more. I wandered in this year one morning in late March this year--because I was getting dangerously cold and needed to warm up. The owner helped me out of my parka, and didn't seem to mind the avalanche of ice and slush that ended up on the floor as a result--then cheerfully offered me cafe and toast. Literally a lifesaver.
I'm glad you found refuge as well and wish you a continued Buen Camino!

I wasn't suggesting people skip a town because I couldn't find a bed. I was suggesting they skip a town and go to a particular albergue/hotel because I found it so appealing.

kayagee66........what's the name of the hotel in Poblacin de Campos or is it the only one there. I'll be passing that way in September and it sounds like the place to stop!

Yeah I realise it sounds like a plug. And Fromista is a nice town. But if you arrive early, and you still have some walking left in you...
