Two certificates. Which is the Compostela

I've walked the Camino twice, and both times at the Pilgrims office I did not check the box that I was walking for religious or spiritual reasons, and I specifically requested the "welcome certificate" rather than the Compestela.

Both documents have been sitting in their tubes in a drawer in my night table, but I took them out today to compare them, and find that they are different. So, I'm assuming that one is the Compestela, and the other is the welcome certificate.

I'm thinking that the Compestela is the one on the left.

At first, I was sure that the young woman at the pilgrim's office this year gave me the Compestela, because as she handed it to me she said "here's your Compestela". But it turns out that she gave me the proper welcome certificate. I don't know why I was given it last year.

It’s spelled “Compostela”.

Just to complete the set - there is also the distance certificate which can be requested by anyone who receives a Compostela (and probably the welcome certificate too). Slightly larger than the other two and in landscape format rather than portrait but very similar in design.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Thanks. I thought that it looked wrong when I wrote it. But at least I didn't put two Ls in it:)

Yup, got two of those too. The Compostela and welcome certificate are free, but the distance certificate costs 3 euro. (at least I think that's what I paid)

Yes, I have the certificate of distance too. All 799 kilometers. Don't know why they couldn't have rounded it up to an even 800 k. After all, I did climb up to the castle ruins at Castrojerez! ;)

They do distance too? I wonder how they compute it; by stamp (waypoint) perhaps?
Señor Ramirez up there got 775 kms. while @Camino Chris did 799 kms.

When I was there they just looked up a sheet with the starting point and then put the associated kms in. I got a distance for the full 7?? Km even though I had just completed the first and last week's. Have spent another 2 years in justification. Great excuse to return (not that I needed one)

Greetings all. I was scheduled to start in Porto in a few days. Went for a 20 km hike yesterday (my longest thus far) and almost didn’t make it. By the time I got home, I could hardly walk...
I have a confession. I am terrified of - and yes now feel free to laugh - the top bed in bunks with no railing/fence (something to stop you falling out). I've managed to get away with it except...
