UK to AVILES transporting a bike

I’ve never walked the Norte.

A friend is competing in a duathlon in Aviles in November this year. She will have to take a competition bike and an assortment of spares but needs to get there, compete and return to the UK as simply, quickly and cheaply as possible (I know those three things don’t often go together).

Departing from the north west of England.

Best I’ve come up with is: fly Madrid then train to Oviedo and another local train to Aviles.

Ignore COVID please, that’s another matter entirely.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

When in November? Loathed to suggest them but Ryanair Manchester to Santander? They only fly Friday and Sunday in November about £30 each way (plus O'Leary taxes etc for sporting equipment obs)
Then the little train that runs along the coast to Aviles?

Not sure if I'd be prepared to trust them with specialist sporting equipment though - most times I've travelled Ryanair I've clutched my most precious possessions to my manly chest.

The Oviedo-asturias airport is actually in Avilés. There are ferries to Santander from the UK, Portsmouth, Southampton or Plymouth, not quite sure

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

€60,-

I'm sure Mr O'Leary would point out that it is the ground handling operations rather than the airline that counts. Links to GHO below

I've lugged my basic bike around Europe and not really had an issue as long as your bike case is up to it.

Last May I walked the first part of the Norte in the opposite direction, from Santander to Irun. Since I only had two weeks and couldn't reach Santiago anyway, I wanted to swim against the tide...
I use Alltrails a lot here in the US, in Iceland, on the Via Podiensis and a bit on the CF. Will it be useful on the Norte? For example, people here say the "warm up" from Biarritz to Irun (or...
Tomorrow I fly to Bilbao to start my 5th stint on the Camino. I did the Frances in three parts (2016, 2017 and 2022). Last year I did the Portuguese from Porto. I did the first 200 km of the...
I thought I had this all figured out, but I have ended up with 2 train tickets from San Sebastian (I don't even know if it's the airport or the town) to Irun, instead of ONE that goes all the way...
