I often think of some of my favorite albergues/hospitalero/as on the Camino Frances and wonder how they've fared. If anyone can check for me, I would love to hear about:

Lorca: There are two albergues right across the path from each other. The one on the right is hosted by Jose Ramon, and the building is his ancestral family home.

Castrojeriz: Albergue Ultreia, with the great wine cellar (Roman tunnel!) tour and footbath. I translated the guided tour for the hospitalero a couple of times; a really jovial, playful man. His wife, also wonderful, cooks dinner.

Boadilla del Camino: En El Camino. Again, I can't remember his name (I posted about him before on this forum). Great ambiente. He loves his cat.

Trabadelo: Casa Suzi

Oncina de la Valdoncina: El Pajar de Oncina. Magical place with fantastic people, lots of music.

I know life is full of changes, but I so hope these folks are still there.

I can tell you three weeks ago, En el Camino, Boadilla, was closed. Castrojeriz was mostly closed 3 weeks ago, there was some hospitalero voluntario and A cien leguas, and a lots of signs "For Sale" and "For letting". Castilla was particularly (extremely) quiet 3 weeks ago, El Bierzo a little bit better (perhaps because I was there on a weekend), and Galicia a bit more lively, even if there was no accommodation or bars open between Sarria and Portomarin, for example. Catching up little by little!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Boadilla Cat.

It is great to be able to read posting like this by JillGat, when you arrive somewhere or are checking out locations , a past stay by a pilgrim can help with the decisions. I would also wish the best for all those wonderful people who provide accommodations on the way.

Oh yes
Plans? No. Hopes, yes. Current inclinations seems to be that the private network, with mortgages to pay, will get first nibble at the pilgrim fruit...
Oh yes. That makes sense. Another good reason to start my Camino soon. I will also be helping the private alburges 😊. I am so glad some are able to
Open back up 😍

I did see one hospitalero voluntario in Castrojeriz, but allowed capacity changes in ranges of hours and miles, there is no such thing as a "global picture" for all caminos.
