Uses of train on the first 100 km of Camino de Levante.

Time of past OR future Camino
Levante (2014-2016); Levante to Toledo (2017-2018), to be continued; Fisterra & Muxia (2018);
Since I started with the Camino, six years ago, I have walked those 100 km several times, two as a pilgrim, and others as an arrows painter. And in this time I have seen many pilgrims using the train.

There are reasons to do it:
- to skip the 15 km of Valencia’s industrial areas,
- to shorten some long asphalt stretch,
- to turn back or go ahead if you don’t have accommodation where you stop,
- including local pilgrims who take advantage of the week-ends to anticipate part of their summer long pilgrimage.

But I also have experiences of pilgrims who didn’t understand how are the railway lines, and lost time or opportunities (including local people) . So I prepared this little information.

From Valencia to Moixent/Mogente, some 100 km, there are 15 railway’s stations, on two different lines, that you can use if needed. Both lines starts at the Estación del Norte, in the very center of Valencia.

First line is C1 (C stands for Cercanias) who goes through the following camino places: Valencia, Alfafar, Massanassa, Catarroja, Silla and El Romani. (El Romani is a halt, not a station). His final destination is double: Gandia, or Playa de Gandia.

Second Line is C2, which uses the same route as C1 until Silla, where it separates. The final destinations are Játiva/Xàtiva, l’Alcudia de Crespins (abreviated Alcudia CR on the panels), and Mogente/Moixent. It is the same route, but with different end points. This line goes through Benifaió, Algemesi, Alzira, Carcagente/Carcaixent, La Pobla Llarga, L’Enova-Manuel, Játiva/Xàtiva, l’Alcudia CR/Canals, Vallada and Mogente/Moixent.

L’Enova-Manuel is the station of two very closed villages, it is 1 km south of the way.

Idem for Alcudia CR/Canals, only 500 m off way.

I join a drawing for better description.

Buen camino.

Wish I had this info before my Camino Levante. I'd probably start in Xàtiva if I ever do this route again. I like the place. 😊

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
As from May,16 2022, there are works on line C2 after Xativa. The service is completed by bus. No problem for walking users, but bycicles are not admited on the buses.
