Hi - I will be in Burgos in two days and want to get an umbrella for the meseta. Any ideas where I can find one of the fancy UV umbrellas? I use hiking poles. Any suggestions on how to attach the umbrella?
Thanks

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
If you Google the terms Burgos and Sports stores serveral possibilities pop up. Their telepone numbers are also given . Good luck and Stay safe.

I’d be tempted to take a look in a big department store like El Corte Inglés. SPF labelling is becoming fairly ubiquitous.

To affix it I’d refer you to the two most used items in my home toolkit: duck tape and WD40. If it moves and shouldn’t: tape it. If it doesn’t move and should: spray it.

In Burgos there are three Decathlon stores with a variety of umbrellas, rather cheap.
I always buy the umbrella with UV protection - very useful.
You may take the umbrella even for rain :)

If you can't find one of those fancy umbrellas in time, you might just try a regular one. I haven't tested one for sun protection, but I expect it would be better than nothing.

For information on the handsfree umbrellas, as well as ideas for attaching regular umbrellas to your backpack, look at this thread.

For rain, on my recent Camino, I starting using my small folding umbrella in one hand and a walking stick in the other hand. I would switch hands frequently. This worked very well, as long as the terrain was fairly even and I didn't need the two poles.

I use this same method when needed when on the Camino as I prefer only using one pole 90% of the time anyway. I rest my umbrella on my shoulder and it works fine.

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

I think carrying a UV umbrella is an excellent idea! I just wanted to say, if you find yourself with a broken umbrella on the Camino (as I just did today, lol), don't hesitate to buy a regular one in a dark color. They provide way more protection than you might think:

I’d like to add: for more complicated challenges you need a bigger hammer 🔨

You will find Inesis, my favourite umbrella ('paragua')
I was looking at this one. When I was in the Madrid Deca I didn't even think to check the golf section. Sadly I think the Burgos Deca will be a bit too far out of town for me. So i will probably just grab a normal one from Ale Pop.

Have you considered buying one from Ivar and having him ship it to an albergue or hotel where you can pick it up when you arrive?
