Valencia to Santiago

I am considering attempting the Camino de Levante , as I understand it is called , from Valencia , and would much appreciate any information as to places one might stay and this Camino's waymarking . Cheers!

Click on ROUTES, then on the Levante and when a long list of numbers have opened on the right hand side, go to the left and clik on the relevant inof - towns, refuges etc.

My greetings to another dreamer !(I'm thinking about doing the same as you can see from my previous posting in this section.)

The Valencia association has published in 2004 a second, updated edition of the guide to Cami de Llevant which you can purchase through their website http://www.vieiragrino.com ( the Confraternity does not seem to be aware of it as they mention only the first edition.)

You can also go to http://www.vieiragrino.com/camino.htm and virtually walk the entire route. Here it is divided into 27 stages (only up to the connection with the Via de la Plata) while the printed guide gives you the whole thing divided into 42 daily marches.

Once you buy the guide you are entitled to receive updates but the communication can be really slow and in Spanish only.

the CSJ page is dated 2002; Diane may well be the only CSJ member to date who has walked this route!

It is possible; the Camino de Levante is very long (c. 1400 km) and without any significant refugio infrastructure. As far as I know it is done almost exclusively by the cyclists (known uncharitably as "decaffeinated pilgrims") :wink: Also, as the Confraternity's description points out, it is a seriously solitary route. On the other hand, it covers the Levante, La Mancha, Toledo, Avila, etc., etc. and the solitude also has its undeniable charm...
