Hi, Göran,
I think you two will be the only ones most of the time although you might meet some Spanish peregrinos as I did in 2016. PM me if you want some more info. I was walking Via de Bayona (Bayonne - Burgos) not the Vasco del Interior (Irun - Sto.Domingo de la Calzada) although they overlapse from Irun to Estavillo.

Buen Camino!

At the end of June 2015 the Vasco had a nice number of pilgrims. For the first night at Santiagomendi there was only us, but from Tolosa onwards we averaged about 7 pilgrims a night. By Haro, there were about 10-12. It seemed to be quite popular and well liked by Basque folk - we met three who started from their front doors and joined.
BTW I don't think many people stay at the albergue in Andoain as for most folk it falls mid-stage. But as you walk past it, it's worth popping in and saying hello. The hospitalero in 2015 was an amazing champion long distance runner and camino runner and a massive enthusiast for the camino - and I think he was in his late 60s or so....

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
