The albergue municipal at Guilenna is shut. La Luz is good as alternative.

Thanks for posting this, it is particularly important because the municipal albergue is on the far north side of town, and La Luz is near the south side of town. It is a disheartening walk back to La Luz after you see the sign on the municipal door!

    Translation of her note:
I wish you a good Camino, a very strong kiss. Pilar.
I hope that our paths cross one day. Kisses.

    Some, and more.
The albergue has been shut for a while, and apparently it has to do with town politics and who will get the contract to run it and the town is said to be dragging its feet in the process.

Some but not all, and other routes too.
Looking at the guide book that seems quite a reduction in available beds after the first days walk.

La Luz del Camino is wonderful, and so is Pili, but she will want you to go to Mass with her!

Yes indeed. I was footsore and it was terribly hot. I was redirected many times. Then a man who I asked, directed me to La Luz, and I am sorry to say I asked him if he worked there (he laughed out loud) in case I was being told the wrong info. He was just being very kind :)

    Hi

Has anybody heard any up-to-date information about the albergue in Guillena? I heard it was closed because of vandalism, so presumably it could be open again by now?

Twice walked from St Jean to Estella and once from Sarria to Santiago. Maybe someday I'll find the time to do the entire walk.
I've found the time. Just completed SJPP to Santiago. 25 Aug to 1st Oct, 2016.
And now the Portuguese from Lisbon.
It's open. I stayed there just a few days ago on 20th Sept.

Its still fairly hot here. The section two days after Guillena, Castilblanco de los Arroyos to Almaden de la Plata, needs a lot of water to be carried. I had 4 litres with me and was down to very little when I reached the only fountain (as far as I know) on the entire 30km stretch in El Berrocal Forest Park.
The yellow arrows take you past some buildings in the park and you can't miss the fountain.
    Buen Camino!

    Thanks Stephen and Buen Camino!

When you get to A Laxe maybe you'd be so kind as to let me know if that's open too.

I will, but it's going to take me a while to get there.
