This isn’t the report that I wanted to be writing at any point during our attempt to walk/cycle to Santiago.
Don’t worry, nothing really bad has happened.
Sarah cycled todays route in to Salamanca as planned, actually she walked a fair bit of it with Marion, while I on the other hand found myself in a taxi.
My lower leg and my whole foot had swollen even more overnight so I decided to stop and get things checked.
So a taxi from San Pedro de Rozados to the University Hospital in Salamanca for €30 it was.
I spent about 5 hours in the hospital. The staff were wonderful. I went to triage, the to a doctor followed by X-rays, an ultrasound and finally back to the doctor.
The prognosis is that there isn’t a fracture nor any thrombosis. Everything is very swollen and the doctors advice is rest, anti inflammatories, ice packs and NO CAMINO!

I think that I’m going to take the advice rather than carry on and cause any more damage and also put future planned adventures in jeopardy.

So now to decide how to get home…..

Thanks for reading along. A big thanks to those of you that we’ve met along the way. Thanks to the places we ate, the places we stayed and to the yellow arrows for helping us find our way this far.

We’ll be back.

What a day you have had! But thank goodness you’ve had wonderful medical care and attention.
Whilst it is Good to hear no fractures or thrombosis, but we are very sad to hear you are going home - definitely you both need to come back and finish this Camino !
It’s going to be here waiting for you both .

And it’s also very sensible to rest and not risk further injuries or anything else damage wise or your future endeavours.

Good luck ☘️

Its been great meeting up with you along the way. Definitively a good part of our Camino.
Wishing you all the best to arrive safely in Santiago.

If you see Pere along the way could you try and thank him for being an important part of our journey too please.

A km or two after Jimena de La Frontera. We climbed it twice so you wouldn’t have to.
