Will do the camino del norte in May vía camino primitivo
Hi all,

I plan to start my camino del norte and continue via camino primitivo in just 5 days! I'm so nervous and exited at the same time. One question though.. I'm a vegetarian (so I still eat egg, cheese, but not seafood) and I was wondering if there many vegetarian meal options on camino del norte? I know that Galicia offers a lot of seafood but I don't eat them. I'm quite worried if I can only eat bread or potatoes during my walk. Hahaha..

Buen camino!

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
The 'Wise Pilgrim Guide' features the Veggie Options on both the Norte and the Primitivo.
You can purchase both books via Ivar on this site. I know, I have just done so! ;)

Is that the android app or the book? I only have the android app and it doesn't say veggie options. As for books, I have bought the Cicerone book and I doubt I'll add another book in my backpack.

I jus finished El Norte and only ate seafood 3 times and yes you’ll find pasta, salads, beans, pizza without problem and you can shop and prepare your own veggies as I did despite not being a vegetarian. Buen camino and try to take as many coastal variant routes as weather permits, you won’t regret it.

I walked both those routes as a vegetarian and had no problems. One can negotiate at restaurants as long as one can hack a bit of Spanish and smile. Say you are vegetarian " soy vegeteriana"and specify "no Pescadores, Morisco o carne". " Huevos si" (eggs yes).

First course - ensalada mixta sin Atun( no tuna), then negotiate the second. I had eggs in various forms, some places even made special effort feeding vegetarians first (Berducedo - Camino Primitivo albergue).

Buen Camino

Last May I walked the first part of the Norte in the opposite direction, from Santander to Irun. Since I only had two weeks and couldn't reach Santiago anyway, I wanted to swim against the tide...
