Vercelli to Rome March 13

I am due to leave Vercelli on March 13 but am concerned about walking into what appears to be a quarantine zone. Is there anybody hiking in Northern Italy now that can give me any insights?

We're in the same boat, about 10 days behind you. However, the official web site of the Via Francigena will keep you up to date on what is happening. Vercelli itself (to the north of Milan) is not in the affected zone, which is actually south of Milan, in the general vicinity of Piacenza. As you can see, they're suggesting you skip a few stages to avoid the quarantine area. Obviously, this may change, so keep checking in on the Via Francigena website.
