Holaaa! Any one leaving Sevilla around the 16th/17th March this year? I am planning on flying out of Houston to Lisbon on the 15th next month and from there travel to Sevilla to start my camino. Any advice from the experienced fellow Peregrinos? I would appreciate your input. Thanks

Hi Olimpia,
I have no advice to help you, but am very interested in the VdP and would like to learn more. May I ask how you made your decision to fly into Lisbon, instead of a flight to Malaga, or Sevilla. And will you be taking a train or bus to Sevilla from Lisbon? Just curious on the logistics of starting out and beginning to gather information. Thanks!

I agree with Camino Chris, why fly into Lisbon? vs Seville??
From Lisbon you can ride bus to Seville.

I will be biking the VdlP around 10 April 2018.

Lots of info (where to stay in Seville, eating etc, ) on this forum about VdlP.

Thank you so much. I have been trying to book a one way ticket using my United miles but these people make it very difficult. My options are 4 stops arriving Seville or Malaga at midnight or 3 stops arriving early afternoon to Lisbon. I checked again tonight and found a flight to Seville on the 19th Houston-Washington-Frankfurt -Lisbon-Seville. Arriving early afternoon. Similar options for the 12th and 13th. I may do that instead. Just hate to hop all over. A few years ago it was easier to fly direct with miles but now it is not possible unless you want to spend all your miles. Sometimes is easier to just purchase the ticket.
Thanks again.

Olimpia, my sis and I will be walking the VDLP starting in mid March. We’ll arrive in Seville March 15 after a flight with 3 connections. After previous visits to both Lisbon and Seville, an evening in old town Seville won out for a place to hang out before beginning our walk. Perhaps we’ll bump into each other.

Great! I see I will not be alone. Any recommendations for a place to stay in Seville? After a long flight I surely will need a good rest.

Hola Cindyjo, I look forward to meeting you and your sister on the way. If all goes according to plans I should start Friday 16. Buen Camino to you both.

Last spring I flew into Madrid and then took the train to Seville. Caught a train from MAD and had to change trains once. It was a pleasant trip.

Hi! I did the VLDP late March to May in 2016, flew into Madrid and took the fast train down to Seville. Easy and relatively cheap if you buy ticket ahead of time online.
Be prepared for variable weather and some mud and water on the trail as you move northward. We had to detour in a few spots to avoid swollen streams and flooded fields. Signage off the trail can be an issue, so make sure you have access to a good map or GPS. Getting your credencial stamped at the Cathedral in Seville can be a challenge as there are usually long line ups of tourists waiting to get in. IF you show your credencial to one of the guards they will escort you to the ticket booth for your stamp.
Buen Camino!
