Via de la Plata Feb/March

I'm planning on leaving Seville 29 Feb and cycling to Salamanca arriving there mid March. I've looked at the weather sites and can expect temps in the range 7Cto 14C but has anyone actually travelled at this time and what was their weather experience. Rain? Wind? Also will I be too early for spring flowers and greenery along the way?

Thanks
John

I walked from Sevilla to Salamanca in the month on January so I´m sorry I can´t be exact. The weather was unpredictable to say the least with freezing fog many mornings. I was back in May and the weather was ideal. I think a month later than when I started will be better but perhaps stll a little early for the spring flowers which in parts are as far as the eye can see.

I walked the vdlp from Seville to santiago in Feb and March 2004. The weather was very varied, fine in Seville and Andalucia. In Extremadura it started to get a bit wetter, colder and windy, by the time I reached Banyos de Montemayor it was snowing [feb 27th] so I caught the bus to Salamanca and carried on to Santiago, still wet, windy and foggy at times. I went back to Banos and finished the stretch to Salamanca. But the weather was never problem, it is pot luck anyway. Can't remember seeing many flowers though. Enjoy.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Thanks for the info.

I would like to go a little later but I want to be home for Easter (March 21-24) and if I go in April then maybe the fares etc will be higher because of half term. If I go later still then it will be getting hotter and I wilt in the heat! So early March it will be, I think, and I'll take what comes!

I began walking in Zamora in late february in 2006 with terrible storms of snow from Zamora to Laza, specially in Padornelo and La Canda. It's not very normal but be ready about this posibility.

Buen Camino,

Thanks Javier. I've decided to push my dates back so I'm now planning to go between April 4 - 20th. Hopefully I'll get better weather and some spring flowers.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Sure.

And, as now we have configured our watches with the "winter time" (one hour early than on summer), the change to "summer time" in Spain is in the last weekend of march, so you will enjoy days much longer to live your Camino.

Buen Camino,

Javier Martin
