Easy well marked and impossible to get lost. Be prepared for slog into Santiago last day

How many days would it generally take for this route ?

How many days would it generally take for this route ?

You could do it in 5 days:
Vigo – Redondela – Pontevedra – Caldas de Reis – Padron – Santiago.

But my group in September will take a week:
Vigo to Redondela, 16kms
Redondela to Pontevedra, 20kms
Pontevedra to Armenteira, 24.5kms
Armenteira to Vila Nova de Arousa, 23.5kms
VN de Arousa to Padron (by boat), 2kms
Padron to Milladoiro, 18kms
Milladoiro to Santiago, 7kms

Hi. For what it’s worth, when I went in May, I had a fair bit of difficulty finding waymarka from Vigo for quire a while. Perhaps I missed one or two, and that threw me off course. Having Johnnie Walker’s guide with me set me straight. After the first 6 or 10k or so, it was pretty smooth sailing. I’m sure it will work out for you.

I gave myself six days of walking, splitting the Padron to Santiago section into two stages; it’s doable in one but I found it more pleasant to split it.

Bon Camino!

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Thanks for this post! We are planning on walking the coast the end of August. Our route includes Vigo to Pontevedra in one day. Has anyone done that? We're in good shape but I wonder about the terrain.

Hi, I haven’t done it in one day, but it’s certainly doable. 36kms.

Vigo to Redondela is flat and easy, as the route mostly follows the cycle path, through the woods, as it contours around the hillsides. Great views.

Between Redondela and Pontevedra there are a couple of climbs, of about 150m each, with Arcade between them, otherwise quite straightforward.

Awesome! Thanks, Jill.

Hi, Jill does Vigo to Santiago de Compostela qualify for the distance to obtain your credential. We would love to be able to have our starting point in Vigo.

Hi, No, rather start a bit before Vigo, Baiona for example.

I have been reading that the route from Vigo qualifies for the Compostela. Can anyone confirm that along with the starting point?

Did you get the Compostela walking from Vigo as the start point?
