Time of past OR future Camino
Fances 2022; Primitivo - Porto ?
Just wanted some advise on walking camino primitivo during beginning of Oct. On reaching Santiago I was planning to walk to Porto following the central route.
Is this advisable, are the albergue open during this time..
Any advise appreciated.

Thanks

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Many albergues and cafés along the Primitivo close in October...use Gronze and WhatsApp to determine what is open.

Markers going backwards to Porto may be challenging...how will you navigate?

Finally, what's your age, general fitness, walking experience, and tolerance for cold? Nothing is "advisable" if this is your first long multi- day walk in the fall. .

Thanks, I do have some experience walking , not keen on walking in the rain.
How cold would it normally be

For navigation isn't the central route to Porto marked..

It’s marked to get you from Porto to Santiago. I would imagine relying solely on markers to get from Santiago to Porto would be difficult, though you could probably do it with the aid of an app like Wise Pilgrim.

Following the blue arrows will take you to Porto from Santiago. There aren't as many as yellow arrows (especially in Spain). But they exist, and can be supplemented by apps.

(The blue arrows actually point to Fatima, but the route from the north passes through Porto.)

I walked the Primitivo in late October last year and almost everything was open.

We had no problems finding accommodations.

Brisk mornings were great for walking from Burgos to SdC during the last 2 weeks of October and then SdC to Porto during the first two weeks of November. Evenings can be damp and occasionally chilly.

Had occasional light rain, but were very lucky to have full downpours on only a couple of days (mornings) when we would normally walk. Debating a half day in a warm cafe works well for rain.

"Fatima!, Fatima!" may help when locals try to correct your direction. As mentioned, an app with good GPS tracks will be most helpful if (when) you take a turn toward neither SdC nor Fatima. :)

Totally forgot about those blue arrows to Fatima! I stand corrected.
