Walking CF over Dec 25th

I've a few days off on either side of Christmas day and was considering a last min, unplanned camino walk.

Does anyone have any advice around avilability of accomodation either in Albergue or Pension across that time frame (from 24th for a week)?

I'm referring to the last 100km from Sarria.

Remember that the Xunta albergues generally do not offer fitted-out kitchens or offer meals. They built -in kitchens and they work. They usually do not have pots, pans, utensils, or tableware. You must either eat "on the local economy" or have your own portable food.

Try not to arrive cold, wet, and hungry. Plan ahead.

A hot shower will take care of being cold and wet, and you can wash your clothes. But, food is not usually on offer.

If there is a cafe or tienda in the village, you are good-to-go. Otherwise, you would not starve, but you could go hungry overnight.

Do they also have organized celebrations for Christmas / New Year? Some fireworks maybe?

In Spanish, Christmas Eve is La Noche Buena/The Good Night. In Spain it is celebrated with a large family feast eaten late in the evening and lasting several hours. Some families attend midnight mass before or after dinner. The special Christmas Eve midnight mass is called Misa del Gallo or Rooster's Mass, because a rooster is supposed to have crowed the night that Jesus was born.

It would be a wonderful experience for any pilgrim to attend such a service on such a special night. To help with your planning here is a Google Map of Parishes/Churches along the camino where you might attend.
