Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has done the walk from Auritz-Burguete to Pamplona, some 38,5 km. Was it hard, how was the trail/hills, how many hours did it take. I will walk that distance on 26th June and I ma not worried about my physical ability, which is quite fine, I am just wondering if that stretch can be done in less then 9 hours with breakfast and lunch breaks.
Thanks :)

That’s a pace of around 3 miles an hour without breaks; while doable, the hills will likely slow you down as will rest breaks.

Hi, Zoran,
(dobrodošli!)

That stretch isn't extremely hard but has constant ups and downs so even if you are in very good shape (in perfect weather and not carrying too much in your backpack) you should be walking at a pace of approx. 5km/h on average. Or even faster. Now it depends how long your breaks will be ;)

Svako dobro! Buen Camino!

True, as an old fert, I could probably soldier on and still do 35-40k. However, that next morning I would be berating myself, asking why, thinking that this wasn't the smartest thing I ever did - then, if lucky, set off to walk at best maybe 15k that day. I have come to believe that over concentration on kilometers means little or no focus on scenery, much less camaraderie with other pilgrims, or leaving but a short glance for the wonderful sights that nature/man can offer - wildflowers, vineyards, pastures, wheat fields, churches, and gardens. I don't believe the Camino to be a form of marathon much preferring to ease back and enjoy everything.

I agree with you totally but I have to meet someone in Pamplona and in this case it can't be helped and since this is the second day and my second Camino it's OK. Next day I have 21 km and a swimming pool waiting at the hotel and that 21 km strech is "nothing" on Camino and I am in good shape.
