Walking from Leon

Hello all, I'm hoping to walk from Leon in Sept. I estimate it will take me 14 days to walk and one day before I start and one when I finish makes it a 16 day trip as I will be arriving by plane from Ireland. I am really looking forward to my journey. Will it be busy on the Camino at that time ? Will accommodation be easy to find ? I cant wait till September. I want to enjoy my self but money is tight. So I want to eat nice meals at night with a bottle of wine, would 50 euro per day be enough ?

At 50 Euros per day, you can pay a few rounds to your fellow peregrinos. Too bad you'll be a few weeks ahead. Don't worry about accommodations; with your budget, you can always find a room in a pension if there are no beds in an albergue or if you need to get some R&R on a couple of occasions. Enjoy your training 'til then and know that your worries are valid but, for most, unnecessary.

Hi!

Great time to walk. The weather's still good but summer crowds are dying down by September. You'll find accommodation. You can spend considerably less than 50 Euros per day if you stay in albergues (approx 8 Euros per night), and have pilgrim menus at the cafe (including wine) for about 10-12 Euros. Any other expense is just breakfast, lunch, and souvenirs when you arrive in Santiago. It's worth having a bit of extra money in case there is an accommodation situation and you have/want to go into a hostal rather than the albergue (expect to pay 30-40 Euros for a night), but you may find walking partners wanting to share so that brings down the cost per person massively. Just go and enjoy it!

Hello Bunclody.
I arrive in Leon on 22 September and begin walking on 25th. After a 35 hour flight I am spending some time in Leon to recover from the travel and to get ready to begin walking.
I have 28 days in total and plan on going to Muxia and Finisterre also.
What dates in September are you considering? Perhaps we will meet along the way.

Enjoy the planning and preparation. It is so exciting to know it is really happening.

Hello Bunclody,

You will easly make it in 14 days, it should only take you 10 or 11.

I only stay in hotels and pensions and never spend more than 60 Euros.
If you have the peligrino dinner you can forget about getting a good bottle of wine,
A yellow belly needs a good bottle of wine daily

Hi Bunclody, I did it in 12 days, so you should have no problem at all. €50.00 a day is plenty, you will probably do it for less Enjoy your Camino.
