WALKING IN FRANCE

I want to walk in France for 6 days in July/August. Where is the best place to start and end. Is there a group that I can join?

I walked from Moissac to sort of limber up for the Napoleon Pass - I LOVED walking in France (I love France anyway) - the terrain is soft and green and undulating and beautiful, and southern France is so civilised, so friendly, so welcoming, so polite, so, so, well, French! And here is the thing, walking from Moissac you get to go through Condom (communal refugio there is brilliant!) and that is the world's most perfect town from which to send postcards home!

Terrible thing to say, but I so wish that Santiago was in St Jean so that ALL the routes were through France ... I would never stop :|

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Le Puy is the best place to start, most people start there. It'll give you a taste and will surely bring you back to do more of it next year. I wouldn't start west of there , it's like starting in the middle of somemthing. I stated there twice.
Look for more info on the Le Puy forum.

All of France goes on vacation in August......go in July if you can.

LePuy is a good place to start, though Arles might be nice too.

This thread caught my eye, because it looks like I will have some free time in September, up to 3 weeks or so. I walked most of the Camino Frances last year, although I hurt my knee (tendonitis) and had to skip a part in the middle. So I am now debating between going back and walking the part I missed, from the meseta to Sarria. Or walking part of the Le Puy route, which I would love to do as I love France and would love to practice my French. Or the Portuguese route from Porto to Santiago. My major concern is my knee and my lungs. I can't tolerate a lot of up and down hills and higher altitudes can make it more difficult for me to breath. I discovered this in Roncesvalles. It didn't stop me just made it harder to sleep, so altitude is an issue. Sorry to sound like a big wimp. I'd really like to try the Le Puy route if someone can recommend a 10-day or 2 week section that is not too hilly or too isolated to do alone as a woman.

Thanks!
