Time of past OR future Camino
Finish the other half.......as soon as I think my iffy knee will be able.....I hope :)
Hello All,
Just days before myself and my Daughter were due to leave for our Camino...it was to be 8 July; we have had an un avoidable set back.
We are now having to delay till 29 July, and are, on this occasion, only able to get the time to walk to Burgos; alas, it will be next year when we are able to complete.
My worry is, that it may being August, is the Camino going to be awfully busy......I don't want to find myself being swept along in a crowd; company can be good, but crowds, I don;t like.
If anyone out there has expierienced this time of year, please do tell.
All the Best,
Paul.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Sorry...it will be busy. August is the peak month on the camino. This does bring its own excitement but also challenges. If you are using albergues leave early and don't walk too late - you will need to secure beds. Otherwise use hostals/hoteles - you can get one to book ahead to the next.

Good luck - let us know how you get on.

John

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Hi there,

I walked from SJPP to Burgos last year at exactly the same time and yes it was busy, however it is easy to avoid the crowds. Actually I would sugget setting off later in the mornings (anything after about 7.30am is later on the camin0!) and staying at smaller palces in between the main stages suggested by the guide books. It is incredible how much this cuts down on the crowds to the extent that you can spend much of the day walking alone or nearly alone if that is what you want and is much easier to secure accommodation at night without rushing. Good luck I am sure you will find a way.

i'm walking with my son(17 yrs) at the same time as you.....when i mentioned the rush for beds syndrome he suggested...take the arogon route...then we get a night of mini golf and a day by the pool in jaca. This is my family favourite spanish town...the hotel is odd...called the grand hotel....a great rest day spot

Thank you all for your thoughts,
I'm sure we will find a way to make our Camino a happy one.
I was particularly interested that Moonmaiden made the same journey at the same time.......Was it a good expierience ? We feel strongly that we would like to walk further, but in this instance it can't be. Did you find that walking only this section was enough to give you time to clear your mind, and leave your other life behind for a while.?
All the Best,
Paul.
