I can understand your feeling of wanting a walking partner but you really don't need to organise one ahead of time.
April on the Camino Frances is busy and you will find many walking partners - for as long as you want one! Look to stay at albergues that include a communal meal - that's always a great way to meet fellow pilgrims.
Buen Camino

I agree with the others. No need to pre plan a walking partner. You will find plenty of people to walk with, and you won't be "stuck" with someone that walks at a different pace, gets injured, or you get injured, or you just plain don't like!

I agree with the others. You will find plenty of companions especially if you stay in the auberges, I found it difficult to find someone walking at the same pace. I walk slowly but have good stamina. I could walk 40 kms per day with minimal breaks. I would have snacks and coffee along the way and wouldn't stop for a large lunch as many did. I had the pilgrims meal at night which I enjoyed sharing the company of fellow pilgrims. I walked with people who were taller than me one day. They walked so fast I couldn't keep up however they would stop for the night after 20kms. I met fellow pilgrims on route who were doing what I was doing. We would have coffee, conversations, dinner etc but not every night. Remember you are with this companion 24 hours a day. It is not like a 8 hour work day. I met pilgrims who had left very early in the morning to escape a pilgrim who had attached themselves to them.
