Walking to Finisterre from Padron?

Can anyone tell me about walking on to Finisterre from the Portuguese Camino without going into Santiago? I have already done the Camino Frances finishing in Santiago, so this time I would like to walk direct to Finisterre without going into Santiago. Is it possible to cut across after say Padron? Is this way marked, or do I need a guide book? I can't see anything about it in either of Brierley's guides, that is the Camino Portugues or the Camino de Santiago, but I had heard it is possible.

You could always 'wing it'. At Padron cut west to Serra de Outes to eventually join the Camino Finistere near Mazaricos. From Padron to Finisterre the distance would be roughly 80 k.

Thanks. I have checked out these earlier Forum threads and they were helpful. However no one makes mention of accommodation on this route. Are there albergues, hostels, or just B n B's (the latter are a bit out of my league, expense wise)? Any information would be helpful.

In Padron and Mazaricos there are albergues as well from Mazaricos onward. Rough distance on small routes from Padron to Mazaricos is 46 km or 2 days walk. Check out www.Gronze.com for accommodation on the Finisterre camino in both these towns.

Plot your route, choose a mid-way village, and zoom in to search for mid-route accommodation. Noia offers many small hostals/hotels.

Hi Gvmelissa, No, sad to say we never did the Portuguese camino last year. A death in the family changed all our plans. Maybe another time. However mspath has said above that there are albergues all along the way and you can plot your path via google. All the best.
