A resident of a Warsaw centre for the homeless, Czeslaw Michalek, has began a solitary walk to St James’ shrine in Santiago de Compostela in north-western Spain.
He is planning to cover the almost 4000-kilometre route in five months, which translates into some 60 kilometres per day.
Employed as a cook in the centre for the homeless, Czeslaw Michalek managed to save some money to purchase a rucksack, a sleeping bag and a pair of walking shoes.
He was also offered some financial assistance to cover such things as insurance and is thinking of taking up temporary jobs en route.
Michalek is an experienced walker. In 2005 he covered over 4000 kilometers along Polish borders. A year later he walked to the Vatican to visit the tomb of Pope John Paul II.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
If someone would like to help him in any way- please call the centre on (0-48)022 6790703 or (0-48)798890675 or use the mailing form on http://www.bratalbert.katolik.pl//index ... 1&Itemid=3 (it is in polish, but you should not have any problems sending an e-mail). He's got no money on him, so we can only be thankful to the God, that we can do our pilgrimages in such privileged conditions.
And that's the page translated using google translator (not the best, but you will get the point): http://66.102.9.104/translate_c?hl=pl&s ... 74491.html
