I received this email from the pilgrims' office this afternoon:

Dear Friend,
It will be possible to see the Opening of the Holy Door per internet.
This is the web site of the Galician Television, and on the 31st December at 16,00 p.m. (Spanish Hour) they will do it.
http://www.crtvg.es/ (TV. en directo)

With our best wishes of peace and love for the next year, 2010, Holy Year, we send you our kindest regards,

I also know that "Antena 3" in Spain will have their new year celebrations on Plaza de Quintana (where the holy door is) in Santiago on new years eve. Since this is next to the holy door, I am sure they will include the opening of the door in their show.

As far as I know Antena 3 does not broadcast live online, they have some videos here:

...but for Live viewing, the TVG link that Sil added above is your best bet.

Sorry I have not been more active in the forum lately... working around-the-clock on the new Camino site that Xacobeo is putting together... :-z

Does anybody have an idea how to record the ''APERTURA PORTA SANTA" online?

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
That was wonderful! Thanks so much for posting this. It really took me into Santiago on a day when I am thinking so much about the past year and what the next will be like. I loved the choir, especially since I had the amazing opportunity to sing with the American Choir of London in St.Pauls for American Thanksgiving this year. I wish I could have been amongst this choir; they sang so beautifully...
Also, I had no idea that there was a wall before the Puerta Santa. That was really the highlight: symbolic and optimistic, coming as it does at the end of a year which for many has been difficulult. For me it is the Metaphor for the Year 2010: let's all break through the wall of the past and move forward into what is going to be a great year, on the Camino and off of it.
Happy New Year All,
Tracy

Unfortunately, I missed it. If anyone runs across a recording of it on the Internet, please provide a link.

I join with Priscillian in wishing all a Happy New Year; may our dreams be greater than our memories in 2010.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
I've recorded the program but it seems as if the avi file doesn't work as it should. I'm trying to fix it.

I think that wall across the Porta Sancta is a temporary thing, put there so that it can be symbolically knocked down.
I hope that all obstacles that we find in front of us in 2010 are as easily removed.
Happy New Year everybody.
