Waterproof pouch for your passport

Wanted to share this find from Walmart for under $7 USD (no commercial affiliation)

I was looking for something other than a ziplock baggie for my passport and pilgrims passport. I found this Outdoor dry pouch comes in different colors and which can be used for pilgrims passport/ passports/ money or whatever you want to put in it.

On the Camino Frances although the ziplock baggie worked for a time, eventually the bag became worn and the edges of the bag split open. In the end I found the bag cumbersome to open and close. This Outdoor dry pouch is my replacement and weighs about the same as a ziplock. Hope someone finds it useful

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Thanks for this. The new Canadian passports (I got one of the 10-year ones--- a sign of optimism??? or of over-confidence in Providence??) have a chip in them, and too much moisture can fry them.

You are welcomed. I am renewing my passport next week and it seems this will work for both of us

I'm going to head to Walmart tomorrow and check this out! My daughter's passport got soaked in the rain and it was almost rejected when she tried to cross the US border. Thanks for the post and the pictures.

I just put my passport, along with my credencial, in a ziplock bag.

That is what i use all the time!

Although, thinking a bit more, I should point out that after a while on Camino those ziplock bags with the passport and credencial cease to be waterproof and need to be replaced. They are subject to a fair amount of both wear and tear.

great piece of kit to share! I used a small sandwich ziploc bag... this would have been a MUCH better solution. Marked for next time. Thanks!

I got one of these after getting tired of taping up worn zip top bags:

Light as air and works great for pilgrims passport, laminated colour copy of US passport info page.

I use/have used those bags you get your fruit in from Aldi/Intermarche/ PingoD et al. Not had a problem with them so far.

This is my choice for a highly water-resistant pouch. It is not waterproof for submersion for a long period of time, but it keeps out rain, shower water, laying in wet and soaked mud, etc. I've now used one for over three years.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

There is a difference between zip-closure bags. I use the sturdier, freezer type and it holds up for the Camino. (Multiple times, different routes.) The storage type has thinner plastic and isn't as sturdy.
