Authorities Issue Orange Alert for Strong Storms in the Basque Country
Countries: Spain
Category: Natural Disasters
Rating: Low
On Friday, 29 June, local authorities have issued an orange alert (the second highest) for strong storms across the Basque Country today between 1800hrs (1600 UTC) and 2100hrs (1900 UTC). Gusty winds, heavy rainfall and hailstorms are expected to occur potentially causing localised overland travel disruption. Inclement weather conditions will continue on Saturday according to the local weather agency.

Members in affected areas are advised to monitor local media sources for further weather and flood-related updates and heed any directives issued by local authorities. Drivers should exercise a heightened degree of caution in flood-affected areas due to likely hazardous conditions caused by flooding and debris.

I have the El Tiempo weather app on my phone, and have been tracking the weather along the Norte. I noticed a warning for the region on the app.

I am in Logrono. Dark clouds and thunder claps in the air. Wind picking up. Hopefully will pass in night.
