Weather in November on VDLP -- What Insulation?

Hello all,

I'm planing on arriving in Seville around 7 November and walking the VDLP. I'm wondering about the weather and particularly the temperatures as I walk northward. I was thinking of bringing a lightweight down jacket (Marmot Zeus) and a lightweight synthetic insulated jacket (Patagonia Nano Puff) which I can wear simultaneously under a lightweight, waterproof shell if need be. Neither jacket alone would be sufficient for cold mornings or evenings although during the day when walking I could wear only one. I also have the Marmot Guide's Down jacket in the hooded and non-hooded versions but as this is a heavier jacket I'm afraid that it would not be as versatile as two lightweight jackets. Weight is also something to consider as the Guide's jacket is 659 grams (non-hooded) and the Patagonia is 367 grams and the Marmot is 506 grams for a combined total of 873 grams, however, I would probably be wearing one or the other (if not both) during the walk.

Any thoughts about what to pack for insulation for November and early December?

Many thanks for any advice.

Welcome @Flanerie. Sorry I can’t help much with your clothing choices.

I lived in Sevilla for some years and one year was actually swimming in November! That said, I can also be cool.

Where you will have more of an issue with cold will be heading further North past Merida. The winter will hit you as it travels South. If you search on the Camino Frances forum on this site with searchword eg ‘winter’ you will get a good idea of clothing requirements in the north. Good luck and buen camino

Thank you for the advice. I will indeed check the French Camino forum and search for "winter" and see what comes up. Many thanks again!
