Expect plenty of rain! It will be rainy season. Pamplona averages almost 7 inches in October. Expect even more rain in November as you travel. But do not be discouraged! Get good gear. Here on the wet coast of BC we say there is no such thing as bad weather, only poor clothing choices. Buen camino!

Welcome to the forum. I would be surprised if you walked it all without some rain. My main advice is to pack light (or pay to have your bag transported). There are lots of packing lists so try the search function. My planned list is here but it doesn't include meds and first aid eg Compeed and some KT tape. The nappy pins are to hang damp laundry to my pack so it will dry as I walk. Always a good idea to secure them well, I was amazed how many 'dead' socks were on the routes I have walked!! I have walked several times in October-November and it is a great time. The weather will be variable, so be prepared for hot sun, cold wind, chilly rain, and everything in between. In my experience, there has always been some rain in Galicia, but you are approaching your destination by then, so it doesn't seem so bad.

I have walked Oct - Nov also, and have experienced all sorts of weather. Rain or shine - the weather only adds to my Camino experiences.

Rain is variable - rarely pouring, but usually some form of drizzly. As always layers layers layers. I use a lightweight rain jacket with a hood - but I find that it gets swampy inside. My solution is to wear a "disposable" rain poncho over everything and leave my jacket zipper open. I wear a cap and clip the hood to the bill so everything stays put and I can see where I'm going. My legs can get wet, but my hiking pants dry very quickly so I don't bother with rain pants.

I use poles, so my hands are out in the weather. Lightweight runner's gloves are enough when the weather is chilly. But freezing wet gloves are miserable. A pair of "disposable" gloves over the other pair saves the day.

Be sure to use a rain cover on your pack (some line it with a plastic bag) so when you arrive at the end of the day you have nice dry clothes to change into.

I will be starting three days later. I walked the CF in Oct - Nov 2016 and had 10 or so days of some type of rain. Wasn’t that bad at all. My only issue was cold fingers. I am taking so,e what warmer gloves this time.

In my last Camino, some years ago, I planned a stage from Ruitelan to Hospital de la Condesa. Weather was awful with intermitent rain and very strong wind gusts as I approached O Cebreiro, and I finally decided that it was wise to stop in Liñares. In the TV, I discovered that there was an official orange alert. meaning "stay at home, avoid risky places". I would have benefited from a timely notice.
I just have noticed an app from Spain official meteorology agency, AEMET. It is free, available in Google Play and App Store; it provides current and expected meteo for your precise location, It is in Spanish, but everythng is quite simple and evident. Obviously, I have nor tried it, but it could be an interesting resource for pilgrims.

I have walked the Camino four times in October in four consecutive years and had little or no rain.

How much? May be a lot, may be a little, but if I were a betting man, I'd say some - it is autumn in the wettest region in Europe. I don't know how many other pilgrims do this, but I use drysacs for all the stuff in my backpack: you can dry out what you are wearing, you can dry out yourself, but if the stuff in your backpack gets wet, you are done for.

Backpacks are not waterproof and backpack covers are very useful for making you visible as you walk along the edge of a busy road, but serve no other function.

Drysacs are quieter than plastic bags when you pack to leave at 5.30 in the morning, and really help to organise your backpack by eliminating the need to unpack everything just to locate one small item that has slipped down to the bottom.

We start on 14th too. We are first timers and are hoping the weather will be kind to us. Our current thinking is day one is going to be extremely hard for us. But many before us have made it…..

So we made 7 days and nights. A fantastic experience the weather was amazing. Thank you John from Ireland who lent us his guide book as we left ours at a friends house. Harry we missed you after Ronsevalles. Best wishes to all those pilgrims that cheered our day along the way to Logrono. We will be back to finish at some point in the future. We over packed next time my pack will be a fraction of the size for sure. Buen Camino.

Roncesvalles to Santiago - All of October with a few days in November. I was fortunate , Until Galicia when it rained for 2 weeks solid ....ohhhy! Numerous light weight layers and a beanie helped. The trees all turn during October Creating a picturesque spectacle. Many of my days were just perfect for walking - not hot. ENJOY!!
