In a perfect world what would the ideal website contain? What information/ stories are needed to encourage new pilgrims and help them on their way?

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
An Interactive map which is able to show articles, features, threads, blogs for routes, sections towns, private acommodation, i.e if you wanted to to stay in Llanes on the Camino del norte, you could put your curser mouse over that area, and hopefully it would show you relevant posts, telling you about threads to go to and giving you the alternate routes to get to Llanes. I have a feeling it would be a nightmare for the person who was looking after the system, cross referencing items, but I am not really technically minded, so maybe someone else can see straight away a big flaw with such an idea.

It would not replace the present system, which I rather like, but compliment it.

p.s What I would say is that a lot of poetry, music, postitive ideas circulate on this forum, after you have been here for a while it becomes apparent, but when you are starting out, you may be more focused on gaining information on the pratical side, that may be the best help you can give to pilgrim prior to him/her walking a camino.

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
It would be very difficult to produce a website that fitted everyone and everything. You might start by profiling the user based on sex, age, home location, experience, dates walking, start/finish point, religious needs, food/drink/accommodation preferences etc! :)

You'd also have to profile the places along the way in terms of accommodation availability at different times of year, climate, facilities, architecture etc. Then match the profiles and produce a possible/suggested route, and places to stay and eat.

Then you need to add the maps, flight/equipment/bedbug/blister/baggage transfer info!

Would we want such a website, though? Isn't it about adventure and discovery? I agree with Stephen, that this site/forum is as good as many of us need. People come on asking similar questions all the time but maybe with a particular issue or concern, and fellow peregrinos always respond to their particular questions helpfully from their experience and perspective. It requires trust in others' goodwill and an understanding that one person's experience will not be the same as another's.

Buen Camino!

I only heard of the Camino a month ago and I am planning my trip for May 2012. This forum helped tremendously. I soon realized, tho, how different everyone's experience is/was. I love the "cards" that are on this site below. They are inspiring to me and lend themselves to the individual (at least i'm supposing).
But this forum has been great and had provided answers to any questions I've had!
Some answers will unfold once I begin walking. - M
