There are a number of webcams along the camino - and in Santiago itself. If you would like to see the sun rising over the cathedral this morning go to

http://www.santiagoturismo.com/camaras/obradoiro.htm

It changes about every 15 seconds so it looks as though the people are darting about. I've just seen a white car pull away from the cathedral - Amazing!

PS: If you know where the camera is you can call home when you get there and wave to your family!

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
We stood in front of the high altar in Santiago, just on the congregation side of the rope "gate", our family in Australia could see me give a discreet wave. They could only see us from the waist up because of the angle of the camera, very exciting for all just the same (and a worshipper sitting in the pews gave me a wink and a smile). Outside we stood to the left of someone facing the front steps of cathedral, against the wall and they could see us very clearly there.

Webcams again

Grant's website also
has a list of webcams including this one at the Irache fountain. I have just seen a cyclist have a drink and have his photo taken. Memories!!

That fountain wasn't on when I walked past it... So I decided to buy a bottle of their Reserva from Madrid airport as some form of consolation... It was horrid!!!

Nice camera shots from inside and outside the cathedral of Santiago and others at :

I was facing the camera at O Cebreiro while talking to my wife in Canada... quite an experience. Too bad this camera is so often off despite my numerous emails to the Galician TV (I now they are not responsible for the camera but have it on their site).

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Minkey,

As a sign of 'gratitude' for the free wine in Irache I bought two bottles in Bilbao on may way back home. The lady at the counter said it was good wine. My judgment at the time I was at the Fuente was of course unreliable and questionable, with the heat, fatigue and all that, so I thought it tasted okay.

Still haven't opened them, waiting for the appropriate occasion to share it with the family, probably on the anniversary of my arrival in Santiago, or the anniversary of my passing through Irache (May 4, which has just passed)...

If the wine is horrid then I might as well not open them at all and remember the wine fountain as it was...the bottle will be great for 'show and tell' though.
