Ah yes the pre camino nerves have finally kicked in! Flying out on Tuesday to start the Norte. This will be my third camino but first one since 2019.

Its crazy how all that hard earned confidence seems to disappear at times like these. I mean i know ill be ok but its crazy how you start to worry about everything bad weather, blisters, being too hot/too cold, rainjacket and poncho? Maybe ill just take everything..hang on.. Ill have to carry it.

It will be fine, it will be fine. Do we all feel like this precamino?

I didn’t know others felt this too! Yes I get nervous and anxious and worry and then when I’m hiking I feel blissful. I get anxious on the trail at times too. I walk alone and so far just have done parts of the chemin du st Jacques. It will be fine! Buen camino!

I cannot tell if all of us feel like that, but I can assure you that you aren't alone.
I will start Camino 7 in Somport on a month and I am starting to get the jitters again. The difference is each camino there are fewer and once I start they go away faster. The other side of it is as I get older, I am 68, I get new types of fears and not jitters. Fears about not falling, not being able to walk really far, and how many more caminos I have in me. But once I start walking and get stronger. and walk further those fears go away too. Buen Camino.
You will love the Norte. It is tough (was at least for me) with alot of ups and downs but fantastic views. Since I am horrendous with maps, I found pilgrims who were walking some of the many variants that can keep you on the coast and off the pavement and roads. Just asked to tag along and of course I was always welcomed.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

I know how you feel. Yesterday I thought I should book my airline ticket. Then I thought, I'll take the dog for a walk and think about it. Came home had breakfast, still couldn't make up my mind. Watched a few camino videos on YouTube and said yeah nows the time. But maybe take the dog for another walk and think about it some more. Got home starting making dinner and said to myself, stop procrastinating and just do it. Jumped on the computer and started to book my flight. Done, my first solo holiday/hike booked for May 14 at 64 years old flying into Madrid. Still shaking a bit and i'am not even leaving for 8 months lol.

Thank-you. Once I booked my ticket to Madrid, right away I started worrying about getting a train, plane or bus to Pamplona and than getting a bus or taxi to SJPP. I need to sit back and chill a bit. Honestly, the people on this forum and the information they give helps out greatly at easing ones self doubts about doing this trip.

All the unpredictables today. Arrived in spain absolutely no network coverage. Can't use phone at all. Only two other people trying to make it to Irun with me. Waited 1.5 hours for bus. Bus took nearly two hours stuck behind some huge thing being transported on the road a mobile home or something. Schools kids falling asleep on top of me literally 😂 no where for my bag. Then train to Irun 😬 then we got the public bus to decathlon to get walking poles 😂, another epic journey 😬 Turns out the lovely sweedish couple I was travelling with were booked into the same hotel and we had a lovely dinner. Got our walking poles and everyone we met couldn't have been more helpful and kind.

Honestly it will all work out ❤️
