Am I completely losing it?

It seems really different, with no longer a staff or members area. I can't find most posts, most likes, etc.

What I do see is most views, most resources. In other words, it seems like the forum has been modified Did gremlins come when I was sleeping?

I'm either really tired and seeing it differently, or it changed.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

A while back (2-3 months ago) I did remove the link to the list that showed who had the most likes and the most posts... since I did not want it to become a competition of "Who can post most posts...". The page still exists her:
https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/members/
...for those interested in this.

Other than that... no changes on my end.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Thank you! I think some aspects of the site may have changed while I was on Camino in October and November and I was kind of in and out in December as it was crazy – – it's OK for changes to occur! I guess it just took me a while to notice,

@William Marques :

My Christmas was not the typical one this year! This one goes down as the second worse, just coming behind the year that my father compared me to a "sneaky" war collaborator for having his driver's license taken away...sigh!

My older brother took my father on a lengthy fishing trip about the time that Dad's driving licence was about to expire unless he did tests to prove his continuing capability. Dad enjoyed the trip and just said that he missed his driving test so had to give it up. Good feelings all around and Dad did not have to acknowledge that he was not safe to drive. This type of excursion might not be possible, or the legal context not be the same, for every elderly person who does not know that he/she is no longer competent to drive.

Is there any way to see most viewed / liked / replied to messages over time (not just the past few days)? I would think those would be most insightful...

What a lovely way to defer!

Autonomy and independence are greatly valued by all of us. Honestly, I think that one of the huge draws of Camino Frances--for those of us who are older--is the ability to go, walk, eat, drink, and worship independently. As our bodies get less cooperative, it's just a huge joy.

My dad? he was on hospice and having a "last whirl" get-together with four old buddies. He drove into town with one of them, a gentleman who later admitted that he was ready to grab the wheel. At that time, Pop was not walking, and to hear that he had gotten up, walked to the drawer where the key was HIDDEN, and driven his huge Ram truck was surprising---at the very least.

Dad lived every day until he died.

I found another place for the key.

We never knew why dad suddenly volunteered to give up his license, we always suspected something really bad almost happened. Nobody ever liked going for a car ride more than him. Good for you for being incisive even though it makes you the enemy for a time!

There is no link to these pages from anywhere, so if this interest you I would consider bookmarking them. I don't feel they give too much information, they are very static and almost "never" change.

...but they are there.. :)

Ivar, I think the present set-up is perfectly adequate.
For which thank you.
Anything more would only complicate and confuse a newcomer looking for advice and information
And anything less would not be sufficient.

Perfectly reasonable for me.... Again thank you Ivar for this well run forum! Really an example for other fora !!

I want my son to remember this for me! Thank you!

We keep reminding our son and DIL that everything I am experiencing with my parents right now will be in their hands 25 years from now with us. Mom hasn't driven in 6-7 years and didn't pass her last renewal since she couldn't see (she has since had cataract surgery). My brother and I had to talk Dad's GP into writing a letter to him (Dad) saying that he is no longer allowed to drive and that it is on record. (not that police officers would every check).

It's good that your father's gp supported you; my dad's doc was a member of the "good ol' boys club" and would not assist until I forwarded a 911 call to him with very strong implications. My pop's hospice nurse finally had to tell Dad's doctor that an attorney was going to become involved if he (doctor good ol' boy) did not help us. It was really a mess!
