what will weather be like on the camino frances in May

Hello all, i will be cycling the camino frances in early May. Does anyone know the weather conditions for this month ? I have browsed various weather related websites which tell me it is a mixture of sunshine and rain (but not too hot). Can anyone tell me if May is a pleasant time (weather wise) to attempt the pilgrmage ! (would i see more sunshine than in the South of U.K) :)

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
The weather in May is really a roll of the dice. It could be nice & sunny, or you could get days & weeks of rain & snow. :( It is very pretty when the weather is sunny & dry, though. :)

Last May when I was walking in the south of France, and it was wet and coolish, quite a few people (from Canada, Austria, UK, Denmark) were remarking that there were heat-waves where they usually lived....but in the south of France where you might expect it to be warmer, it wasn't! It can be quite muddy in May. Even in early June, we saw lots of cyclists attempting to ride the walking Camino route to start with, but one day of mud in their gears usually cured them of wanting to avoid the roads! Like Kelly says, May really is a roll of the dice, but it may be a lot cooler in the north of Spain than you are imagining.

Hopefully, not hot, not cold, may be rainy, you can find some snow on the top of mountains, you posibly have to be ready for everything ... this is the Camino, enjoy it.

Is there at least a range that we can expect, like -5 to +20, I'm really in the dark here when people say it could be snowy or hot or raining..

Usually from +10 to +25, but it can be under 0 on mountains. You can have some snow in Foncebadon or Cebreiro, for example.

Hello Lemonkid, For a good idea of average daily weather you can look in http://www.elcamino.com and go to Camino Francés, then 'weather' and then 'long term observations'. You will find a chart showing on a daily basis, month by month the average climate to be expected. This can be of some help and at least gives the lowest and highest temp to be expected, plus approximate days of rain, etc.
I loved walking in May as it was never too hot, often partly cloudy, some days of rain and you are rewarded by walking along tracks and meadows full of spring flowers. Anne

Yeah from what I've heard it seemed like the perfect time for me. Thanks!
