We had “a field day” on this walk.
Literally a field day!
I lost count of the number of fields we crossed
From Gargrieve to Malham and back, with a tea stop in Malham. About 22 km
green fields, beautiful scenery and along by the river Aire
Lots of cows and sheep on the way too
This is a section of the Pennine Way
The Pennine Way is a 265 mile (427km) is a national trail through 3 national parks in England and a huge area of outstanding natural beauty
It traverses “the backbone” of England and runs from Edale in the Peak District to Kirk Yetholm in Scotland.
a few days previously , we’d met some runners on another section of the PW
They were racing the whole trail on the Montane Spire race of 265 miles
The winner this year ran it in 71 hours…yikes
A woman ran it in 77 hours…yikes again!
The race is regarded as one of the world’s toughest endurance races
The same route is also covered in winter
