Camino Frances (April/March 2017)
Hi, I will be starting my first Camino from StJPdP in one month's time and am curious if the church of Sante María de Eunate will be open at this time of year. I have been perusing the Internet and the forum for some time now and cannot find any definitive indication on when and if the church will be open. Any help with this will be appreciated.
cheers MAN

PS. As mentioned above, I have been lurking in the background of this Forum for some time and have gleamed a great deal of info and advice. Thank you to those who post and provide info to us newbies. This has been a valuable resource that has helped in my preparations.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Website says it shiuld be closed until April 9th.

Try contacting them directly to see if maybe, perhaps... This is their website.

I know the priest that has taken it on posted at the beginning of his tenure but can't recall his avatar name.

I am a newbie too and interested in finding out this info as well, as I will be on the Frances a month behind you. In the spring of 2015 Eunate was not open at all, so I didn't take the detour to see it. That was a mistake I regretted, so plan to go there this time, whether open or not.

Check the opening and closing TIMES, as well as the dates. You might get there but have to wait 2 1/2 hours for the door to be opened, as I did one year. It's still worth walking the few extra km to see it from the outside.

Thank you so much for your responses. Open or not this is something I plan to take in. The image I have seen have such an attraction for me it is hard to describe. It crystallizes the imagery of the long history of the Camino and the many who have gone before me. Looking forward to the journey.

Today, glorious sunny day with no wind and -12 degrees Celsius . Great day for training.
Cheers

There's no point: Eunate is closed until April.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
