The Guardian newspaper is requesting readers' tips on pilgrimage routes in Europe:

What kind of tips does the Guardian want? Not the prosaic "pack ear plugs" kind of tips. Oh no. They want to know about "the people you met, the most picturesque stretches, the stories that swirl around the trail and the historic buildings you came across."

But while you're at it, "Please include details of exact locations of the start and end of the trail with any relevant websites and price information"

And do it in 100 words or less.

Best tip wins a £200 hotel voucher. (Only UK residents are eligible).

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Join our full-service guided tour of the Basque Country and let us pamper you!
Note Lonely Planet is involved. No doubt there will be a LP guide book to the CF - or is there one already?

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Oh, a conspiracy has been uncovered 🤔!

It's a regular feature in the travel section of the Guardian and each time the winner is chosen by Tom Hall of Lonely Planet, whoever he is. Perhaps just a guy who knows a thing or two about travelling in the UK and in Europe and whether a tip is worth publishing in the Guardian or not?

BTW, the competition on readers' tips on pilgrim trails in Europe has already ended, the winner has been chosen and a number of tips were published in today's Guardian.

The winning tip is about the Pilgrims’ Way from Winchester to Canterbury, followed by tips about St Conan’s Way in the Highlands and St Margaret’s Way from Edinburgh to St Andrews. Further down the list is a tip for the Camino Frances which is about the Albergue Orion in Castrojeriz because they run a Korean restaurant recommended for those who are tired of yet another meal of chicken, chips and mixed salad.

About Korean food. I spoke with a Korean girl on my Santiago - Fisterra last month and to my surprise she told me that the most popular Spanish dish in South Korea was "Gambas al ajillo".
