Planning to walk January-Feb 2017
Hi there,

I am planning walking what's possible of the Camino route starting in January 17... I have looked at so many options and I can see there are many hazards at this time of year and limitations with route options and accommodation. Does anyone have any wisdom or advice on route options that would allow me to cover as much as possible? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated ...

Thanks in advance anyone who can help me.... Jo

Thank you for the advice! I have had a look - there is definitely a wealth of information. Do you recommend any routes for a January start?

The only route I have walked several time in winter is the Valcarlos alternate from SJPdP to Roncesvalles continuing eventually to Santiago. As mentioned in the Forum thread posted above you must BE PREPARED!

I have walked the Via de la Plata on a couple of occasions starting in early Feb, no problem. Also done from Astorga to Santiago in late Feb early March, snow but passable.
