Also wonderful photos of old Roncesvalles and mass pilgrimage. It also has the longest list of links I've seen - click on the XACOWEBS door on the left and you will find linkes to all the towns, albergues, organisations etc.

One of my Spanish friends on the Camino said he spoke better English after a couple of drinks. I found the same to be true when I combined alcohol with my Spanish - so keep that in mind when you get tongue-tied. Indeed, an "emergencia lingo" shot of booze should always be kept nearby... :mrgreen:

Now, I was thinking of taking along a shapely Spanish translator, but hadn't considered the vino or bota as enticing as the hour glass.

I guess things to start looking better as the night goes on.

Well, Arn, I was just about to offer to translate for you and then I read that line... sorry I don't fit that description so I guess you'll have to get your translations elsewhere! :lol: But I will tell you that that is a fantastic website that Sil recommended ... I looked at it today - lots of information! ¿Qué pena que es casi completamente en español! Pero hay partes o enlaces que aparecen en inglés...

Vinitinto, I've heard the perrodrinkos speaking Spanglish in the bars. It looks more like an ancient, Neandertal sign and expressions language. But, hey, we all understand it!

It doesn't matter the thread or the topic at hand, everyday I look to see what's up, what's new and who's got something I can take away to make my day a little brighter and my smile a little wider.

After 14 years in Spanish-speaking countries, my Spanish is quite good, but I find it really improves after a glass or two of Ribeiro, in fact, after some of the rough stuff they serve in "jarras" in Santiago, I begin to speak in Gallego (or that's what it sounds like anyway, or is it Portuguese..or Parseltongue?)
Thanks, Sil, for posting these links. The photos on the Rencesvals site are truly extraordinary and really invoke that sense of history and mystery one feels crossing the Pyrenees, most especially. Such a beautifully designed site too!
