Hey biarritzdon - I was woken at 3 am today by rolling thunder, lightening, and rain so came into the forum to poke around and reminisce. Hoping you're well and remembering meeting you on Camino in 2015 or 16! Deb

I am doing fine, I live in Naples, Florida full time right now. Can't visit Biarritz and don't know when I will or if I can do another Camino due to worsen conditions in my right foot due to neuropathy and nerve damage. How are you doing?

Damn neuropathy and nerve damage! I'm doing okay, despite a most challenging week. The wildfires of Oregon were in our "backyard," and we were fleeing, packing our cherished items, taking dogs and cats out in boxes, and shipping our five cattle to a friend's house. It was very emotionally difficult, and I'm currently coming down from that.

I came to the forum to check in and get some comfort, and wanted to say hi to you. I remember I ran into you on my second walk in Spain, and it was like coming face to face with a living legend! We had some drinks and dinner with another friend, a woman from England with very white hair. She accidentally left a small doll figurine at an albuergue and had to walk back four miles or so to get it. Do you remember her?
Hi Ivar . I m following a friend from Romania that will end Camino Frances soon. Maybe another interview with this friend will be interesting for pilgrims that had to cancel their pilgrimage this period. ( east european perspective and conclusion about Camino Frances post-pandemia). Thank you . (sandellphone@gmail.com)

Hey Ivar, have a rest mate you looked tired this morning, again thanks for all the updates and videos.
Hi, I'm planning to walk via Gebennensis and via Podiensis or however far I get in four weeks, starting in mid May 2021 most likely. Am looking at camping and occasionally stay in hostels. Any suggestions or advice? I have found a few websites that looks promising, such as le campingsauvage.fr and rural-camping.com Thanks, Tone-Lise
Donna, I am not sure whether you meant your reply to be private concerning Kat Davis death. However it went out as global!

Yes, I did. It is already in the public arena.
Off to start the Porto to Santiago leg along the coast next Saturday. I've previously done the del Norte from Irun to Gijon, and the first five days/184km from Budapest.
Hoping to walk with my Grandson next year. I'm looking for a book about Catholicism in Spain for kids, or Camino for kids. Hell be 11. Any suggestions?
Just been browsing the Camino Forum awaiting tonight's storms to abate and came across this thread. Did I ever answer you?

Hope this finds you well, in good spirits and still the lovely person
In body and mind I remember.

Hi..... just saw your message. I haven’t been on here for a few weeks. I’m very well thanks..... heading to the wild south west of Ireland next week to do some walking as no Camino this year. Hope all is well with you. Lovely to hear from you.
Hello everybody, since 2021 will be a holy year? How busy will the Camino be next year? I'm assuming July and August will be the busiest. It will depend on the virus.
Walking the waterfalls and gorges in the finger lakes region of New York State-- waiting for the pandemic to be beaten back.
Hi there. I've just noticed a posting by you referring to theC CaminoMadrid that you were planning to walk this summer. In particular I was interested in the blog mentioned as we had planned to walk the Madrid this autumn. Obviously, we had to put that idea onto our "to-do" list for the near future.
If you did actually walk the Madrid we would be extremely interested in reading it. Can you give me more details.

Hi Tony. Despite my best laid plans, comprehensive organisation and total excitement, the ol' virus stopped me from traveling anywhere! I still have hopes/dreams to get there and complete my camino combo next year. In the meantime, have a look at Maggie's Madrid walk (https://magwood.me/) as I am basing my path on her inspiration. All the best, Mel
We had a restful weekend in the lovely Zafra in a very reasonable flat on the Plaza Grande. Carrefour provided vegan treats. Only 5k today as I had to buy a new rucksack. Tonight at Pensión Michey in Los Santos de Maimona.
I'm hoping you may be able to help me. Some time ago while on the web I discovered a story about a couple who bought and renovated a Spanish property, a stone house or mill. They have a business helping others find country property to purchase. I've lost sight of their name and business. Might you know of them?
Thank you

there's an English guy up in Galicia, near Lugo, named Mark or Mike Atkinson. He is married to a Spanish veterinarian, they live in an old house and he sells property in the area. I find him a bit of a hustler, but that's just me.

Well, today I started...well, not exactly. Today was the day my grandson and I were to start our walk from Sarria to SdC. Like a lot of folks we'll have to wait until (hopefully) next year. Been Camino, y'all.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I like/agree with what you wrote; The lessons of both of these encounters for me is to cherish these moments that occur—moments of closeness, vulnerability, inspiration, revelation, beauty. To welcome them and to open the heart but to not hold onto them.
Was packed and ready to go for my 3rd Camino, praying for the virus to ease up and allow the world some sort of normalcy. Looking now to April 2021.

Hi Ivar
seems somehow i lost the ability to send PMs to members. IIRC there was a button under member's avatar to 'start a conversation'? and now I do not see it at all no matter who I 'click on'
Any ideas?
thanks
Dear friends, my Mother passed away 2 days ago on Saturday, the day before Mother's Day in the U.S. We live far away so cannot be there. Sadness.
You had a great idea for this thread and it is going well. Another idea for a separate thread but with similar theme is ....Sello received on this date.

Edit.... attach photo!

Buen Camino.

Thank you. Good idea about the sellos.
How quickly things change. In hospital right now after having had a hip replaced. Surgery appears to have gone well , now need to be disciplined about rehab. The CP will have to wait.

So sorry to read this Doug ‘best laid plans’ and all that.
You’ll be better than ever after it though. Something to look forward to. Just take it slow and steady for the moment.

I am now at home getting ready for a more intensive rehab program over the next few weeks. I expect there will be ups and downs along the way, and staying motivated will be a challenge while other isolation measures are in place. But I will be keeping the CP and other future pilgrimage walks in the back of my mind to motivate me, as well as staying connected through this wonderful camino community.

I loved watching your videos. When you were able to run uphill away from that guy at the end of a long hiking day in my mind I nicknamed you "Legs"! Keep up the videos and dancing. It brings a smile.

Once your back hiking I plan on buying you the entire day, lodging, food, tours, etc.
If it's possible, let me know when you are going. I'm 66 and I really wished I knew about the Camino's in my 40s or 50s. I was to busy hiking the highest points in the USA west of the Rockies. Keep on dancing. Stay young.
Hi Carol,
I live in Sydney,& would love to borrow your books. Let me know when it’s convenient to meet you at The Cheers Club.

Hi Ivar. Really enjoyed the Zoom meeting today. Thank you for coordinating. As mentioned on the call, just wondering as a future topic we could cover phones, internet, Wi-Fi on the Camino. Possibly another topic might be banking? Cheers, Mike

I can't walk the trails on the Alice in Wonderland because they are 4 feet and when someone is coming I have 3 choices, turn around and go back till the trail widens, go like a bear up the mountain or like Jack and Jill roll down the mountain. Elin

Hi Pruden,

I am interested in Camino Lebaniego and was wondering if you had any information you'd be willing to share regarding your daily stages, thoughts about that route, weather information on your journey in May, etc. Basically, anything that might prove useful for planning my walk on this Camino. I would appreciate any guidance.

I am always optimistic, hopefully not in vain. I have airline tickets and even a reservation at the Refuge Orisson for June 20th. What do you all feel about my chances of being able to walk the Camino ? This will be my 4th in 5 years.

sorry Harry - June 20th? to me the chances are nil. But hey! I may be wrong!!

I know from your profile that you are in South Australia,. I have a friend (from the Camino) there, that is why I was where exactly you are. But I can understand if you don't want to say publicly! What are your plans? Next Caminos?

We live in Kapunda, small town near the Barossa Valley-vino country. Planning SJPdP to SdC July 2022 and Porto including Finisterre and Le Puy sometime. Be great to catch up for a pint. Things getting much better here, but not so good there. It's nice to be in touch. Take care, stay safe.
Wait! You joined the Forum in 2014 and are currently 82? That makes you 76 when you did your first camino? ? ? I am impressed!!

Next camino not for a lark. My sis passed away 6 wks after being diagnosed with cancer & godfather passed away at age 96. Sis expressed interest in doing a minimum camino "someday"-- in cleaning her room, I found trappings of a true Camino aficionado. Have lock of her hair. Godfather's parents were from town on Camino. Sis & my godfather will be with me in more than spirit the next time i am there.
2019: Various stages along the Somport Pass, Camino Frances and the Norte, none of which culminated in a compostela certificate. Just doing stages that had personal interest.
Intended on departure for 4-15-20 with plane for the coastal Port. route as well as the Camino Ingles. Plans aborted due to the pandemic. Will attempt to rebook this camino experience sometime between Oct this year and 2022.
