Do I need to bring a Bed bug sheet and mosquito net?

Do I need to bring a Bed bug sheet and mosquito net?

The question was:

Hi I am walking in July and may be camping a considerable amount of the way. Is it a good idea to bring a mosquito net for camping and also a bed bug sheet for sleeping in albergues.

  1. Bug spray – lighter than a mosquito net and works against the bed bugs. I encountered the most mosquitos in Galecia (towards the end of the camino) where it is more humid. I sprayed all my clothes, sleeping bag, backpack with permethrin before going on the camino so that when I encountered those vicious bed bugs, they only bit me where I was not covered by treated material (i.e. my arms). Had I worn bug spray to bed earlier on, this could have helped. I recommend bringing your own pillow case. Also I used huge garbage bags to put my backpack in once I got to the albergue to keep bed bugs out. If they get ya, you will need to wash EVERYTHING ASAP in the hottest water setting possible to help make sure you’re not bringing them with you to the next place. Good luck!
