I want to bike the Camino Frances, what is a recommended itinerary?

Biking the Camino de Santiago

The question was:

From what I’ve heard and read, it sounds do-able – averaging about 50km a day. I have a rough timetable and it seems fine but I’m a little worried about Burgos to Leon – it’s more than 200kms and I am planning on doing it in 3 days. Does anybody know if this is too ambitious or is that stage relatively straightforward?

  1. I just finished the Camino. Started in Chartres and down to St Jean Pied de Port and onto Santiago. It was easy and flat most of the way in France. John Brierley does some guides. The Chartres guide he does doesn’t have a map but good directions which i followed on ripped out pages of a Michelin road map. There are other guides.
Have a look and the Cycle Camino de Santiago section in the galleries of my website for pictures i took along the way. Enjoy the ride, I’m missing it already.
