What is your favorite private accommodation between Sarria and Santiago?

Camino de Santiago

The question was:

Since I got such good information from my request for information about places to stay in Melide, I thought I’d post a more general question.

If you have stayed in private accommodations between Sarria and Santiago and have some special favorites, post them here. I am helping a friend set up her Camino, but since I don’t usually stay in private places, I’m not able to give her good advice. There are some older threads on this topic, but given the rate of change and construction, I thought I’d ask for more recent experiences and recommendations.

Would a camping hammock be useful?

Would a camping hammock be useful?

The question was:

I often do short trips in the woods and use a hammock and tarp for overnights. I like this setup as its very light and comfortable. I wouldn’t want to use it every night as part of the camino is the social aspect of staying in albergues.

Are there many places along the way where a hammock could be used? What are folks thoughts to having a hammock & tarp to be used as a backup place to sleep and also as a shelter that can be used during bad weather?

What is the accommodation costs on the Camino de Santiago?

What is the accommodation costs on the Camino de Santiago?

The question was:

Can you tell me if I am right in thinking that it’s possible to get accommodation along the Camino Frances for as little as 5 euros/night? This is what I’d been told and budgeting for (starting around the start of October 2012), but reading through the forum, I see a lot of places for 25 euros and up. I’ve looked through Guy’s (?) wonderful spreadsheet and it seems things are a lot more expensive than I thought.
