I'm sure many of you have plenty of ideas how to spend all the "spare" time now when restricted to go outside and around like we were used to until just few hours ago. But I still want to give you some more ideas which were compiled by Directors Guild of Slovenia. All of this is completely free to use:

- http://www.openculture.com/ (1150 movies, language courses, audio books and many more),

- https://zippyframes.com/ (cartoons and animations, not just for kids ;) ),

- https://www.wiener-staatsoper.at/en...is-closed-but-continues-to-play-daily-online/ (everyday new opera from Vienna Staatsoper - older editions),

- virtual museums and galleries:
The British Museum, London: https://britishmuseum.withgoogle.com/

Guggenheim, New York: https://artsandculture.google.com/s...fnUmHRyOSzMtY3vtYU05g&sv_z=0.9645743015259166

My son asked,"What will everyone do if the internet goes down from being so stressed... people working from home, children and college students doing online class, bored people streaming movies."
It was an interesting question.

Plenty of things to do in and around the house if everything E-related goes down. I still have about 5 meters of books I didn't read yet in my library ;)

More possibilities. I just got this from my Russian (Syberian to be exact) colleagues. It's already Google translated:

Hello.
Everyone already knows that for safety reasons, many cultural events are canceled. However, at the same time, it became possible to visit many museums online. There was also the opportunity to watch online many canceled video shows \ ballets \ operas- (which were scheduled to be broadcast in movie theaters) and all this, completely free ...

I share with all the links:

☑ Hermitage

Путешествие Five-hour trip to the Hermitage, shot on iPhone 11 Pro with one take in 4K

☑ Metropolitan Opera has announced free Live in HD streams from next week every day, on Monday Carmen, on Thursday La Traviata, on the 22nd Eugene Onegin

☑ Vienna Opera also conducts free broadcasts for the period of quarantine

☑Till April 15, free subscription to Arzamas Radio
by promo code QUARANTINE

☑Translations of the Bolshoi Ballet, March 29, "Romeo and Juliet" by Prokofiev

☑ Google project Arts and Culture

☑ Amsterdam Van Gogh Museum with google street view function:

☑ Tretyakov Gallery
...

☑ Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna

☑ Uffizi digital archives

☑ Louvre

☑ State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg)

☑ British Museum, one of the largest online collections, over 3.5 million exhibits

☑ British Museum, virtual tours of the museum and exhibits on the official YouTube channel

☑ Prado, photos of more than 11 thousand works, search by artists (with alphabetical index) and thematic search

☑ Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel

☑ Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York

☑ online collection of the New York Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), about 84 thousand works

I'd love to go take a wander on the beach next to my building but there are hordes of mindless fools here in Florida for spring break. You simply have to start believing.View attachment 71067
I know! I'm visiting a relative in Pompano Beach who lives on the ocean. Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Lauderdale by the Sea, and now Pompano have all closed their beaches to the spring breakers. Today is our first day to not be able to walk the beach here. The beach closures are moving north every day.

Yep, same here. We fly home tomorrow to Illinois after ten days of perfect weather. I think we will be self quarantining for the 15 days. I will have no good excuse to procrastinate on projects I've been ignoring.😐

I keep my pandemic reading to a minimum just to keep up to date. I am lucky enough to live in an area where I can walk in solitude every day. I read books and when I watch tv I watch YouTube and old Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart, Barney Miller and All in the Family shows. On Netflix I am binge watching Gilmore Girls. My daughters find it hysterical that I am watching that. But I want ZERO stress now.

Camino 2024 unknown starting 4/1 from somewhere.
I have been working on preparing my garden. My seedlings for radishes and peas are already beginning to sprout.

Very odd being home at this time of year. Still hill training daily on my treadmill and looking forward to my first Fall Camino.

I have LOTS of wool at the moment so I will be finishing crochet projects (including one started 30 years ago by my grand aunt - bless her soul!)

My partner Dave and I are working out how to create a skate spot in our basement so we can skateboard indoors.

I have decided to relearn functional anatomy with an anatomy colouring book (so relaxing) as despite using it every day in my job, you can never be too precise in knowing origins, insertions and innervations.

My partner Dave loves origami. He will be folding and listening to podcasts.

We'll probably be doing home workouts to stop us both from going stir crazy.

I have a Kindle (my favourite possession in the whole world) - plus a stack of books too.

We have just resubscribed to STAN too - the new season of Better Call Saul is beckoning and then there is playing Red Dead Redemption on our PlayStation. (Best. Game.Ever.)

There are also all the fantastic suggestions and links provided on this thread :) We are well and truly set up and it's like we are kids during a rainy day.

Sadly, these temptations will be right by us as we will likely be working from home!

I enjoy my free kindle app and read or with OverDrive an audio book for free from my local library. I enjoy being read to.

Here a one hour work out it’s in German but I think one can follow it

I started to dust off my guitar and practice. When it’s good enough I’ll open my window.

since my physical therapy got cancelled I am now proud owner of an indoor bike and can train for the next Camino.

With excess wool making mittens for next winter.

A finally located copy of the out of print book The Cypresses Believe in God, recommended by @Rebekah Scott, is waiting for me in our library, closed now due to the current situation. I found the notice - that this inter-library load had come through - in my junk mail two days after the library closed. A used copy of The Basque History of the World, by Mark Kurlansky, which I found on ThriftBooks, seems to be hung up at the border. So frustrating ☹️. Still, there are lots of other good books to read, ... and exercises, and walks, knitting and crocheting (for charity) ... and now visits to museums, etc. Thank you @KinkyOne. 😊

Thanks, Kinky, I was so excited to get these links. My first “trip” was to be a return to the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City (the list says ”New Mexico” but it is in the “real” Mexico). But when I click on the link, I only get a picture of the exterior of the museum. Is there a virtual tour somewhere that I am missing? I am not an anthropologist or archaeologist, but I think this is one of the most spectacular museums in the world.

I have been waiting to find time to explore at least one of these links. I copied them, and pasted them, and shared them with some friends. However, it is only today that I gave myself permission to sit down and go slowly through at least one link and hey presto! I am sitting at my laptop thoroughly enjoying A Spanish Night, conducted by Placido Domingo in 2001, in the Berlin Waldbühne. Wonderful!
Thanks ever so much, KinkyOne, for this treasure. I didn't imagine how long it would take me to get the time to do this!
Of all the posts I have read since this all began, I am going to cheat to mention one here now that just tugs at the heart: on the "Humor in .. round two thread today there is a photo with a little boy kneeing by his bed, hands joined in presumably fervent prayer. By his side equally fervent... his dog.
Oh, this concert is such a delight! Maybe this is what retirement is meant to be? Maybe I will retire when this is all over? II will want to go outside again though. For sure!
