Prior to leaving Canada, I loaded 4 credit cards, Visa and MasterCard with $ to cover camino charges, I checked and double checked that the four digit codes for each worked. On getting to Spain none if the cards worked, the four digit pin not accepted. I didn’t 59€ I phone calls on supposed...
On getting to Almería to do the Camino Mozarabe, I purchased a Vodafone SIM card for my iPhone 4. I was charged 40€ even though my receipt only showed 20€. Three days later, when my phone did not work properly, I realize got scammed out of 20€ cash by the clerk at Vodafone. Reported it to police...
A fun piece of trivia I came across just now. Apparently so far this year the fountain has supplied nearly 24,000 litres of wine - about 32,000 bottles worth :-) https://www.vinetur.com/2022100670754/la-fuente-de-vino-que-arroja-mas-23800-litros-de-vino-a-los-peregrinos.html

Stuck in Spain

I originally was going to do two caminos but after I got done with the Frances a few days ago I really don’t feel like hiking another Camino. My flight back is Nov 4 and I tried to change it but the cost is too much. They said over $1000. So I may be stuck in Spain until Nov 4. I am in Barcelona now doing some sightseeing but I still need to kill a few weeks. Anybody have any suggestions

Credit Card Nightmare

Prior to leaving Canada, I loaded 4 credit cards, Visa and MasterCard with $ to cover camino charges, I checked and double checked that the four digit codes for each worked. On getting to Spain none if the cards worked, the four digit pin not accepted. I didn’t 59€ I phone calls on supposed toll free numbers for both Visa Mastercard ( from appropriate banks) who confirmed my cards were valid and that the numbers were valid and working. They did NOT work. I had brought a lot of cash and...

COVID Leon medical care COVID?

I just tested positive for COVID and want to see if I can get an antiviral med. what’s the best way to see doc in Leon? Recommendations for hospitals with shorter ER wait times (I know private hospitals are sometimes preferable in Spain)? I have good travel insurance. Many thx for your help.

Getting to Spain a Problem!! Brittany Ferry Boo!

I hope not too many pilgrims were planning to travel by ferry (supposedly better than flying i thought...) to Spain or Portugal..... We cycled from Lisbon to SdC many years ago. But - recently I tried to book the ferry from the UK to Spain to do another cycle trip (down the rest of the Portuguese coast) and was told that despite the ferry having many spaces - it would not be possible to book at all in March for 2 cyclists.....they said that they needed to keep the bookings for car/camper...

Feedback on packing would be (really) appreciated.

I'm hiking The Ingles beginning 10/9. Little rain currently forecast. Not sure if I need a poncho and raincoat. I'd prefer to take the raincoat regardless for warmth on chillier evenings, just not sure if a poncho is needed if only light rain is forecast. No cotton here, all merino wool or quick-dry synthetic. This pack includes what I'll wear when I leave home. (Underwear not pictured). Hiking poles I"m leaving because of USA TSA, but will pick some up in Ferrol. Any experienced pilgrims'...

Just booked my flight to Bilbao, traveling by train to Irun to start the Norte, arrive in Bilbao on the 15th March and starting from Irun on the 16th of March. This will be my fourth Camino 2 x Frances From SJPdP and 1x Portugues from Lisbon. Hopefully lock down has not destroyed my legs too much still time to warm up and get fit. Look forward to meeting all the perigrenos.
Arrived in Santiago today! Amazing journey. I started out 30+ km per day and then slowed my pace. The Camino showed me my fervor. It also showed me my limits & taught me to slow down. I’ve learned so much and received so much on the Camino. Today I got my Compostela very quickly, got some food, & now I’m in my hotel room letting myself absorb it all. Thanks to everyone on this forum who were so supportive! 💖
