My life long friend and I will celebrate our 70th in Sept. We were born 2 weeks apart and plan on celebrating both birthdays on the trail. It will be his first Camino, my first was in 2011.

Could be my imagination but I remember getting "noticed" by bartenders by removing my hat as I enter. Sometimes, maybe by inadvertently not following the local protocols, I've been made to feel invisible.
Definitely do not PARK your backpack on a chair that another patron might be able to use. Sitting at a table with others is quite customary on the Camino, so please leave other seats at your table open.
It may seem odd but in rural areas and the smaller bars it is customary to offer a general salutation as you enter: “ ¡Buenos días! /Tardes” will do. Same with the bartender, a greeting before ordering “Buenas, Una Cerveza”
