A navigation app or detailed map is essential on the Camino Olvidado

Laurie.. I meant to ask. I read somewhere on the WEB🤣, that Jose Cunarro is Ender, and that Ender is Enderface... I had been in touch with Jose before for a link to his Wiki route from Vegacervega to Pola De Gordon... So is Jose = Ender?

A navigation app or detailed map is essential on the Camino Olvidado

Mapy.cz if free and brilliant for Picos and caminos. For Olvidado, I used outdooractive and http://douglasajohnson.com/caminos.html What I would advise is .. do NOT follow the ORANGE Camino olvidado app.. it is safe, but you will walk alot of roads, and miss alot. Finally the train is close to...

    Experiences on the Olvidado - June/July 2023

I stayed 2 nights in Puente Almuhey... walked backwards to Guardo, as missed the morning train. Then walked forward to Cisterna next day. In late July 2023, Sonia had had 117 quests. By the end of 2022, a total of 134, so numbers on the rise.

Oviedo Cathedral - No longer free to pilgrims?

Not exactly on topic, but I happened to be in Oviedo on August 15th, and walked within cathedral in the evening. It was in the hour before evening mass, so perhaps it was after museum etc had closed.. or perhaps it was the holy day. Leon cathedral have a stamp at the entrance and the last tells...

A Garmin inReach on the Camino Olvidado

Hi, I'm going to attempt to spell out an approach to the etapa from Bonar to Vegacervega, especially for anyone worried and new to this camino... There is no need. This will not be a purist approach... but if worried here is a handy option. Feve Times for August 2023 (Google and Rome2Rio...

    Ticks and Lyme's Disease

That was a panic message. I asked a person who looked in the know when I left the station and they pointed me to the nearest health centre. Empty. My wonderful Spanish meant trying to explain I was Irish, led to me getting shown the door and directed to private clinic as either Icelandic or...

    Ticks and Lyme's Disease

Howdy... On a bus tearing back to Oveido, as must have got bitten waking up in monastery Albergue on primitivo...Day 1 out. Day 2 developed flu like symptoms and arm and underarm gone super stiff. Was in Tineo. Any one know what to do exactly in Oveido? (I went to pharmacy in Tineo and they...

    Experiences on the Olvidado - June/July 2023

Oh I loved this report. I bought a flight to Bordeaux yesterday and on bus now to Dublin airport. I used blablacar to get to Spain tomorrow, and was thinking I'd walk Primitivo first, as I haven't walked a Camino with people in ages and see how I cope. 🤣 Also the Heat wave may be less extreme...

BP on the Olvidado July 2023 - A retrospective

I've no idea how to reply here... I walked in July 2022 (to Villafranca de Biezo), and 2019 (to ponferrada) ... Omicko concise guide was super useful in 2019. In 2022, I was back and over on the train like a blue arsed fly, as had issues with backpack, shoes, heat etc. Went onto Leon, and went...

LIVE from the Camino Camino Viejo (Miranda de Ebro - Aguilar de Campoo) June 2023

Howdy, if you like DM me a contact and I'll WhatsApp you any key folks or places along the way that I have handy on my phone. I walked last year and maybe 2 years before that. Enjoy. Remember the train track is close by, and so because of one thing or another, last year I ended up back in Bilbao...

NEW ALBERGUES on the Olvidado 2022

Oh no... Angela and her husband are along the lines of Isabel and Aldolfo. Sure the casa which has 2 parts, may be rented out, as this time I stayed in the other apartment .. but you still get a guided tour of this incredible house... And a choice of rooms, and I wish I spoke Spanish as so many...
