Mother/daughter Sanabrés: a week to remember

My daughter and I walked the last 100+km (from Ourense) of the Sanabrés in September, and we totally loved it. We were restricted in a number of ways - limited holiday days, chronic pain from a car accident a few years back, need for space and a good night's sleep - but we could not have been...

    Sanabrés-Invierno overlap

Hi all, just checking back in to thank everyone for their much-appreciated input. My daughter and I had a wonderful walk from Ourense to Santiago, and we were grateful for your insights concerning Lalin/Estacion Lalin. We ended up just going with our booking at Hostal Caracas, and it was fine...

    Sanabrés-Invierno overlap

:D:D I'll keep this in mind, and save all my receipts just in case!

    Sanabrés-Invierno overlap

Thanks for weighing in. :) The hostal in Estacion is just a wee bit dearer than the one we booked in Lalin, but the "few good restaurants, the river walk, promenade, ATMs" could be handy, as could the shops and the kitchen at the hostal, as daughter is vegetarian and it might be nice to have a...

    Sanabrés-Invierno overlap

Those photos (as they say, worth a thousand words)! Thank you! We will definitely try to just follow the Sanabrés, though it might mean a "commute" to/from Lalin, as that is where we have our booking. We do prefer rural, especially my daughter, who thrives on the beauty of British Columbia, and...

    Sanabrés-Invierno overlap

That map is super, thank you...I'm not great at navigating Gronze, will explore more. And I'll check out that Albergue, though we do have an accommodation tentatively planned. There was suddenly availability at A Taberno de Vento, which is why I started overthinking things. :) Staying in...

    Sanabrés-Invierno overlap

I kind of thought so - have read of people changing Caminos before - but wanted to be sure. Thank you!

    Sanabrés-Invierno overlap

Thank you! (and thank you, too, for all your wonderful, useful information on this forum!) Yes, it's a bit of an extra walk, but the Hostal also has a pick-up service, so we'll see how it goes. We'll be walking from O Castro Dozon, but sleeping at Cea the night before (transfer service, worked...

    Sanabrés-Invierno overlap

Hello, all. My daughter and I will be walking the last 100+ km of the Camino Sanabrés in September. For personal and medical reasons, we will be keeping our stages reasonably short, and staying in hostals/casas rural. One of our stops is at Estacion Lalin, where we intended to veer slightly...

LIVE from the Camino And we're off. Camino de la Lana. May 2019.

I am totally enjoying this thread, and even taking notes. :-) I have been to Cuenca once upon a time (in the 70's!), and I tend to not be an albergue kind of walker (shoot me), but this Camino sounds like I would love it anyhow. Maybe someday. Soon.

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2019

With the holidays over, and the fireworks no longer an issue, I finally got out walking in the afternoon instead of the evening, and could enjoy the farm roads that edge our villages. Free at last! 😊

    Should or shouldn't I bring a camera (Sony a6300)?

I have every intention of taking my camera - an Olympus OMD EM10 mkII - on my ...whatever (I am not sure whether I will be walking a Camino or the Stevenson/GR70). Photography makes me happy, and I can not imagine travel without it. I usually have my Oly on a neopreen wriststrap, always...

The Stevenson Trail GR 70, Chemin de Stevenson

If you bypassed Bedouès, you would miss one of the most amazing little chapels I have ever seen in France (seen a lot): the Chapelle de St. Saturnin. Definitely worth the non-detour. :-)

10 stages, any Camino: the most beautiful?

Ah. Thank you. And from all I have read about the Meseta, I think it would be my Zen xone, too. ..:-)

10 stages, any Camino: the most beautiful?

Thank you for your input! I am not researching here, actually, just interested in what astounded others (I, truly, love turning a corner, or entering a church, or cresting a hill, and gasping in disbelief at what I see before me..)
